Description
The IBBA Duckweed Collection, which has recently incorporated the renowned Landolt’s duckweed Collection, preserves about 600 living accessions of Lemnaceae from all continents, representing the large distribution characterizing this family of small aquatic plant. All the worldwide recognized species, including newly discovered hybrid taxa, are represented by at least one accession. All clonal accessions are cultivated in-vitro and must be continuously propagated for long-time preservation, as seed can be rarely obtained in vitro. The collection represents a fundamental resource for scientists working on this plant family.
