Bioresources
Bacteria, Filamentous Fungi
Main Taxa
Many Ascomycetes (e.g., Verticillium, Pyrenocaheta, Fusarium), some Basidiomycetes (e.g. Rhizoctonia, Heterobasidion), some Streptomyces species and Xylella strains.
Description
PPBM Collection preserves about 600 strains of fungi and bacteria, mainly soil-borne and obtained from agricultural soils, including Verticillium, Streptomyces, and Xylella. Some strains are characterized at different levels, including morphological, physiological, pathogenesis and molecular traits.
Preservation Techniques
Cryo: Ultrafreezer at -80 °C, in cryovials with conidia/spore suspension in water glycerol (10 to 25% V/V); Fresh cultures: Refrigerator at 4 °C with mycelium on agar slants in glass tubes or agar in Petri plates, or in root-soil medium in glass tubes
Services
Deposit of strains; distribution of strains, preparation of reference materials for official accredited diagnostic tests
Competence / Expertise
Isolation, genus or species identification based on morphological or molecular techniques, molecular typing, preservation and cultivation of microorganisms, biochemical and physiological characterization, biocontrol, phytopathology
