Fifty-two Olea europaea cultivars endemic to the Sicilian region. There are four replicas for each cultivar for a total of 206 olive trees.

The collection was created with the goals of collecting and conserving the native Sicilian germplasm as a genetic resource for breeding programs to improve genetic lines for: constitution of new oil and table varieties, resistance to biotic and abiotic stress and new genotypes for use in mechanized intensive plantation

Preservation Techniques
Maintenance: agronomic interventions are planned aimed at guaranteeing the optimal state of health of the plants. Multiplication: copies by cuttings and/or grafting of the mother plants are kept in pots, hosted in a greenhouses of a nursery affiliated with the CNR-ISAFOM.
